Mineralogical and chemical characterization of speleothems from the “Doña Lucrecia” cave, Rionegro, Santander (Colombia): A preliminary approach for paleoclimate record

The present study concerns the use of speleothems from “Doña Lucrecia” cave, Rionegro, Santander (Colombia), as a preliminary approach for paleoclimate record. Several are undoubtedly among remarkable features this cavity; instance, columns, stalactites, stalagmites and fallen blocks. Speleothems contain important evidence palaeoclimatic information, which can be interpreted through integral petrographical geochemical analysis. A detailed characterization stalagmite internal microstratigraphy was carried out. Besides, due to monotonous carbonate lithology region, essentially composed calcite. results research work include development capabilities production map karstic system that indicates origin most relevant facts within it. This cavity represents an component existing geoheritage in territory remains hidden without identification evaluation.
